An extensive collection and networked service provide comprehensive support for research and learning
The University Library is designed to incorporate the soft natural illumination from the campus, offering a comfortable and bright place for learning and researching. The collection consists of about 300,000 volumes (as of March 2006) in a wide variety of specialized fields, and is made available not only to students and faculty, but also the local community.

Information service addressing user needs
*Simple information search
- The entire collection of the University Library is managed by a computerized system. Users can easily process borrow, return and search jobs from terminals located throughout the Library, or even outside, via the information network.
*Mutual access with other libraries via a growing network
- Through an online connection with the Academic Information Center, the University supports mutual access with university libraries throughout Japan. Information search and retrieval at the Kumamoto Prefecture Library is also made available to users through the network.
*Professional counter service
- The counter on the 1st floor offers a complete range of reference services, including provision of materials and instruction on how to locate and obtain information.

Study-spaces designed to meet student needs
The Group Study Room on the 3rd floor is designed to address the special needs of group learning, while the Meeting Room is handy for study and discussions utilizing library resources. The AV Corner stocks a wide selection of video, CD and LD materials, available for immediate use or borrowing.

People living in Kumamoto Prefecture over 17 years old, or people working in the prefecture who have received a special browsing card, may freely utilize library facilities.
