For most students it is good to read very easy books at first. There are two types available.

Easy graded readers

Examples of these are the Oxford Bookworms Starters, and the Penguin Readers Level 1 and Easystarts.

Children's Books

These are written for young native speakers of English. Examples are Oxford Classic Tales, Oxford Reading Tree, and Usborne Young Reading.


I recommend that you read both, because they are very different. Children's Books have more varied vocabulary. This is useful for learning words, and the books are easy to read because they have pictures and easy sentence structure and are usually quite short.
